Here's an interesting article from Paul Spiegelman at Beryl in Dallas, where they have created a culture of caring.  Huggers, note writers, card senders, song writers - they have the lot. And it seems to make a big difference.

Paul advocates 4 key elements to creating a culture of caring:

1. Create a process to know what's going on with your staff - be aware of what's going on in people's lives;

2. Acknowledge your people off line - invest your time, not just your money, in your staff;

3. Be sensitive - it's not always good news, so be appropriate;

4. Let your staff loose - let people do that they do best, when it really matters.
